The Crystal Chandelier

There it was....The Crystal Chandelier

Has it really been that long since I wrote in this blog...wow Summer just flew by!!
The kitchen is almost complete and I will post pictures as soon as the finishing touches are done!!

I wanted to share my first DIY project. I have been reading many blogs lately of some very inspirational women! The one I am currently addicted to is House of Smith's
So I took this on for the sake of making our house, that we have lived in for 3 years, a beautiful family home.....finally!

It really only took a few hours from it's purchase from Habitat for Humanity($100) to completed( two coats of black lacquer spray paint $5.99 and a lot of disassembling and reassembling)and it is now gracing my dining room with it's sparkling glamour! I can't stop looking at it and Charlotte can not stop turning it on and saying "I love it mommy" She is a girly girl!!
I think my husband , who was very apprehensive about the purchase, is secretly loving it too!!
So here it is!

Beauty Lessons

I sat down with one of my staff this past week, she was afraid of her make-up bag!!
Getting married, wants to do her own make-up for her wedding and needs a make-up lesson.

This is one of my favourite services.

This is how it works, you bring in your make-up bag, we go through it, toss the expired, and teach you how to use what you have left, stock you up on what is needed to enhance your radiance and teach you how to care

Not only that but we educate you on skincare..... particularly your skin and what your skin needs may be!

Then today, it happened again!

Someone who owns make-up but has no idea of how to use it! Why do you buy things that you have no idea of why or how to use it!
BLOWS MY MIND.
Did the person who sold you this make-up not teach you anything? WOW.

Secondly, not is it make-up one of my favourite services. But Aveda has revamped their make-up!!
They have already released their eye color trio.
And I am so looking forward to the up & coming lip shines and glazes coming the end of July!! FINALLY!

Tamara looked amazing after we finished our lesson! She looked radiant and ready to marry the man she loves...I can't wait to see the photos of what I taught her.

Monkey see MOnkey do!

I heard her in my room and she came out....perfectly poised and walking quite gracefully in my new red heels!
Funny , she chose these shoes, as the day before my ensemble was a short, flowing denim dress, red scarf around my waist....and my new red heels! I am creating a shoe loving monster!

demolition

I had peonies as my wedding flower.....They reminded me of my grandma. The air in Grandma's yard carried the aroma of peonies as soon as you walked through the arch. She is not with us anymore. Although she is always with me in spirit....She was wonder woman! She would do everything that a home required ,in fact, she was still painting the kitchen chairs at 80?
Today I did her proud. Charlotte was home with me all day but slept through the mass destruction that was going on in the kitchen! While she slept I helped demolish our kitchen. The best outlet for any frustration you may experience! We discovered that our kitchen had never been insulated...crazy hey! No wonder it is the coldest room on the house!! It felt great for my A type personality to just chip out gyp-rock and yank out boards...of course to reveal the a clean slate! yayayyay. Cooked supper in my make shift kitchen that is set up in our dining room with no oven or stovetop ore sink! So I have had to get creative! Last night we had steak and corn on the cob(BBQ) & potatoes (zapped in the microwave).

Today's menu consisted of

BREAKFAST
~yogurt and a pop-tart!! mmmmm
LUNCH
~ left over potatoes, steak and corn cut off the cob.
DINNER
~the last bit of steak and corn....sweet potato fries(well oiled cookie sheet on the med BBQ) served with a vanilla/mustard yogurt dip (just may replace honey mustard for this girl!) super quick to make:1/2 cup vanilla yogurt and 1 tbsp mustard or to taste! The fusion of the flavours is one of the "weirdest food combos"...
There are hardly any dishes so clean up and put away will be a snap....

Any Day Now

Just winding down from a busy two days. Listening to the rain falling, the thunder rolling and a song called Any Day now by Jon and Roy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZv7Lu_elsY. Thanks to Holster you know me so well to recommend this song. Perfect for the moment as I am thinking any day now the rain will stop and although it is serene, our cup overfloweth. I told my husband that Mother Nature is P@##ed off at us. And after record rainfalls in Saskatchewan I am truly believing it

Who are you?!?

This being my first blog, I thought I should introduce myself.
I am 31 years old. I live each day for my family and friends. I was lucky enough to find my true love and we have a 2 yr old "pois de senteur' at home!
Along with being a happy housewife, I am a business owner. My husband and I own an Aveda Concept salonspa called Ethos.
I am a philocalist. I admire the attributes of beauty, style and grace and truly believe "beauty is as beauty does".
I am surrounded by 20 awesome ladies everyday I go to work.
I am an esthetician and have been for the last 11 years and I adore having the opportunity to nurture others.
I have learned many things in my career thus far. More so, life lessons from my guests and teammates.
I have guests who have supported me through being a first time mom, I have guests I have cried with and shared in their sorrows, I have even had a spiritually enlightened moment with a first time guest (who emitted the most powerful positive energy I have ever experienced) so in the spa I take the philosophy of giver's gain. I consider it a privilege to be surrounded by such beautiful people and I consider myself an ethos beauty. Someone who recognizes the beauty within and inspires others to do the same!
